Cheap and a good value

Not a hundred percent blackout but they are light blocking. My place also feels a lot fresher. Fabric of drapes is does not feel cheap nor thin. Out of the box, they weren’t wrinkled whatsoever.

The curtains are beautiful! I’m very happy with them. They’re easy to hang. They’re true to length. They are the perfect touch in my home office.

Curtain does a good job of blocking out the light but does attract a lot of hair/dust. Overall happy with it.

Appears to be good quality curtains. Blocks the sun out so it’s great when we’re watching tv so we don’t have to worry about a glare. It’s the perfect size for my sliding door. Probably will order different colors so I can switch them out.

This truly blocks all light from coming through the fabric; I bought the one described as "3-layer". See in my photo that it visually appears like just one heavy layer, but I have enough experience with drapes to know that if it was just regular fabric, sunlight would 'glow' through the weave. This is an attractive heavy 'blackout' fabric! Wonderful. Just remember that you can't have any gap around curtain edges if you want to have the room as dark as midnight.

Perfect for that luxury floor to ceiling window look! The chocolate shade is perfect and you can’t see light through them! Super soft but does come slightly wrinkled, nothing my steamer couldn’t handle lol. I recommend!!

These are not only attractive but were very easy to install they're not particularly heavy but they do work as blackout curtains, the quality is excellent, we get a lot of sun through those windows and I have not noticed that they are prone to heat retention, they are easy enough to pull aside and look quite attractive if you do want the sun streaming in and once the covering the windows it's very effective. I have sliding windows and they're a pain to use with Venetian blinds when the wind blows they rattle, so sleep quality has been much improved by just tying them off a little to the side. For the price these are a steal. I got the light gray color, my bedding is light gray, but I'm a guy who likes to keep things black and gray, so that's just perfect! I washed them as soon as I got them as I do anything that can be washed. They recommend no tumble drying, I ran them with just air on a gentle cycle after washing and as you can see the pictures I didn't need to even touch them up, they barely wrinkled.

I’m reviewing/comparing several sets of curtains. Maybe this will help you narrow down your options. I’m using a double rod. And all my faith is in the anchors in the wall! Haha! My curtain combination consists of the following 4 sets of curtains in 96 inch length:

I intentionally hung my curtains from ceiling to floor; I have 8ft ceilings. At first it was for aesthetics but now I realize it contributes to the effectiveness of energy efficiency. And I intentionally chose to hang a combination of colors and textures for a layered look. The colors and textures give my window and room more interest and dimension. Since this is the hottest room in the house, and it’s on the 2nd floor… and I live in a desert! So I am after maximum heat blocking. I didn’t plan to use this many curtains, it just ended up that way when I wanted to redesign my office. So here is the breakdown.

First,

I’ll start with the ones I’ve had the longest. The one that I have on 10 windows in my home. I’ve had these up for over a year. These are fantastic! They have a gray backing and are truly 100% blackout. And they do a good job blocking heat and reducing the winter cold from coming in. Before I got these, I only had Venetian blinds and they don’t do anything for temperature or light control. My electric bill was hundreds of dollars. I noticed a big difference in the temperature of my home after putting these up. I love the cream color as it is a versatile shade that complements my decor. They were wrinkled upon arrival but a few minutes on the dryer fixed that. They hang well and look great. Well made and energy efficient. And blocks the sunlight. The linen texture is pretty but with the performance of blackout curtains. The listing does not specify if there is a multilayer construction; nonetheless, I find them to be very effective.

I also have these on 10 windows in my home. I’ve had these up for over a year. I enjoy having these curtains to let some sunlight in while still keeping some privacy depending on the time of day and inside lighting. They are semi sheer. The linen texture is beautiful and diffuses the sunlight so it’s not so direct. The white color keeps things light and airy. They are well made and hang well. A few minutes in the dryer took care of any wrinkles from the packaging. I’m very happy with these.

When I decided to redesign my office, I did not want to remove those 2 sets of curtains because I love them so much. But my office had too much white in it. I needed more contrast to make it look and feel better. So that’s when I added the double curtain rod and more curtains! This was an opportunity to put more color in the room. And I thought additional blackout curtains might be helpful against the heat. I was right!

RYB HOME Linen Textured 100% Blackout Curtains, color: Burlap. Rating: 4 stars

Burlap is a beautiful medium brown color. And there are multiple shades of brown woven together to make the color. I like the texture of the fabric and the gray backing. It is truly blackout. But the reason they aren’t 5 stars is because the wrinkles in the curtains are a bit aggressive. I put them in the dryer and that did not help. I sprayed them down with a little water then put them in the dryer on 2 cycles… still wrinkled. So I hung them anyway and steamed them… they are still wrinkled! Even despite hanging for weeks. While they are less wrinkled from the start, they are more wrinkled than I want them to be. I hope the wrinkles fall out with more time. Anyway, I do like everything else about these. The construction is good and I love the color. This color was not available in the other curtains I have. The weight is about the same as the cream ones. The listing says it has a multilayer construction which seems effective to me.

Save the best for last!

Okay now these curtains are ELITE! Now these feel like luxury curtains. They are actually heavier than the other brands I have. The sewing is immaculate. Not that I saw anything wrong with the others. But the thing is, I NOTICED how perfect the stitching was on these. they feel different, like the layers are more robust within the fabric. I was surprised when I received these curtains. The product description states they’re “faux linen.” They actually feel more like “faux denim.” These are heavy duty, thick panels of material. However, the fiber content is not a dealbreaker for me. I specifically ordered these for our guest room (aka the alternative to my spouse’s snoring room) because of the blackout feature. These definitely block out any and all light. (I’m actually relieved they’re not a lightweight linen like material). At a glance, they do give off a linen fibrous look. And if you were to just rub your hand lightly over them, they feel like linen. The quality of these is top notch. I’m super impressed by the construction of these, especially the thick loops up top. They lend well to the draping effect. So if you’re someone like myself and my husband, who requires a dark room in which to sleep, you’ll be highly satisfied with these. I should add I ordered these in Twilight Blue. In my experience the darker the color, the better the blackout effect.

These look just like the image and arrived in perfect condition. They are very thick double lined cloth, so they are truly blackout curtains. The attached picture was taken with the sun shining directly into the window (curtains opened a tad to show how bright it is outside)

These curtains are nice. You get two thick curtains that surely are blackout curtains that certainly does block out all the light coming in. They are strong curtains with well-made materials and superb craftsmanship using faux linen. The yarns are woven together using a variety of weaving techniques to create the characteristic of a heavy fabric that you can see and feel. They are great to keep the room cooler, especially blocking out sun rays and help to save on my utility bill. They are also great for keeping the room quiet and dark by helping to view my television without interruptions of light seeking in. But I feel these curtains would also serve its purpose in the winter months to keep the room warmer as well with the well-made material that is solid and firm and with the thickness of these curtains. And these curtains set the benchmark for safety from yarn to the finished product that complies with global regulations and standards while every component is assessed carrying the Oeko Tex Standard 100. One curtain will cover one of my windows nicely providing 52” width. I simply love the insulated backing these curtains have that I know will also help to keep the room a little quieter with less distraction from the outside and simply makes the room more private and this is especially wonderful during dinning time at the table. The multiple layers on these curtains bring about depth texture and a striking visual interest with their lovely rich deep saturated black color and simply glow with glamour with quality and delight. The overall frame of the curtain that drapes over the window in harmony helps block the heat from leaking out of the home in the winter months and certainly does help to keep the cool air in the room and not escaping through cracks in the window frame. They are soft and drape beautifully in the dining room enhancing the overall aesthetics of the room with its style and diffused the natural light well to act as a filter to prevent the natural light from seeking in. And sometimes I love it when I can make the room even darker for complete darkness of a room for sleeping. The craftsmanship of these curtains with the smooth and crisp edge and the overall finish of this garment is superbly done including the wide lovely rod pockets that make it super easy for installation and with how the pockets are done it’s a smooth operation of adjusting for making these curtains hang beautifully in the room and provide complete coverage over the window. They are easy to clean and can be thrown in the washing machine. They move easily across the curtain rod so I can let in as much light as I want without worrying about removing the curtains entirely. And I love that complete easy control of letting in the amount of light I want in the room, and this gives the dining room still nice lighting in the room when I want it and how much I want into the room.
