I give these a 4 1/2 star but of course you cannot do that. I knocked a 1/2 star off only for the fact that all manufacturers need to do one simple change to back tab curtains so they hang better and that is to bring the back tab down about a 1/2 inch in order for them to gather better at the top, especially given the weight of these curtains. Otherwise, these are seriously quality curtain panels and the cost is amazing!
The "X_Triple Grey" are 96 inches and they are truly black out. I looked long at the description because going through other reviews, many seemed disappointed with them but since there are two different types of curtain panels on this product page, you need to know that one is 100% black out and the other one is room darkening - these are distinctly different. Look for the "X_Triple" in order for 100% black out.
The fabric is thick because there are three layers and they weigh about 7 pounds for both panels. That's a lot of fabric! It's is not as flowing as I would like. To put it one way, it's like a thick denim. But I wanted a thick material that keeps the cold out during the winter months as I have an 8 foot patio door so for that reason I keep the stars higher up.
I got these the day prior to me writing this but I knew immediately that these were going to fit my needs well. I still need to get them hemmed for the specific allowance for the patio door they are covering and fix the back tab (again, that's on all manufacturers who create a back tab product. I would have preferred a track system to mount on the ceiling (which would have reduced the need to hem) but the budget and the fact that winter is coming didn't allow me to do that so I got a double rod here on Amazon (that I also like) that fit my budget better.
One way I know these are truly black out is that I have a street lamp out back that is so bright, you could light a stadium with one lamp. Okay, a bit of an exaggeration but it's the only thing I truly dislike about my home. When I turned the lights off for the night last night, with the wrap around rod I used, there was zero light coming in.
So if you're looking for a good quality black out curtain that also has thermal qualities to it, the X Triple curtain panel is what you need.
