This is a nicely made blackout blind that works as intended. I didn't install it because it was for a bay window and I didn't know if that would be different from a regular window, so I let my friend do it. I watched, so I know install was straightforward. My only issue is that there was a lot of space at the top and sides for light to leak through. (see picture) The sides have about 1" and 1.5" of space, and the top has about 1.5" of space. I was hoping that since the window was 46.5" wide and I got the 46", that there would be less space, but basically, there was the 1" on each side plus the 0.5". I know that the listing said there would be 1" of space on each side for the inside mount, but why is there another 0.5"? And frankly, I have another blackout blind of a different brand that has about a TOTAL of 1" of space on the sides (so about 1/2" on each side). The top 1.5" space is also excessive because the other blackout blind, which I personally installed, only has about 0.5" of space at the top, so I know it is possible to make that space smaller. Of course, none of this would be an issue if I had done an outside mount installation, but that wasn't an option for me. But if it is for you, then the above is a non-issue. I noticed a couple of negative reviews that mentioned some damage. In that case, one simply has to ask for a replacement of the damaged item. Sometimes things get damaged in transit, or there is a packaging mishap. It happens. Not sure why 1 reviewer said that the chain doesn't work as well as it should. Em. Just pull one way to open and pull the other way to close. It works perfectly fine. Again, if the part is defective, then get a new part. Once comment about the width of blind to order: one reviewer said he ordered the same width as his window. (The listing says to order a smaller size.) I totally understand this reviewer's issue as I made the same mistake when I ordered my first blackout blind. (That listing didn't say to order a smaller size than the window width.) If you make the same mistake, I believe you can remove those plastic things that are on the metal attachment brackets, and that will probably allow you to just fit the blind into the window for inside mount. This is what I did for my first blackout blind, and it worked great. (You will know if this will work w/o removing those plastic things first if you just barely cannot get the blind to fit, so only do it if it will fit. Otherwise, you can at least exchange the blind or resell it as new.) I might have done the same for this one except that for some reason, the bay window is 46.5" instead of an even 46 or 47". Understand that I canNOT guarantee the blind will fit, but if you order the wrong size by mistake, that is certainly something to try. You will then get a 1/2" smaller leak on the side. 1 star ding for the excessive light leak on the top and sides.
